You guys,
Today is the two-year anniversary of The Lives of Tao‘s publication! On April 30th, 2013, Roen, Tao, and all those crazy Quasings were dropped onto this unsuspecting planet and the entire freaking world has stayed basically the same. Cancer was not cured, Congress is still full of assholes, and no monkey has stepped foot onto Mars yet .
WHATEVERS. It’s still my two-year author anniversary and I ‘m gonna party like I’m Prince and it’s 1999!
BTW, Prince, terrible form. Just fucking terrible. Keep your legs straight, dawg.
I know what you’re thinking. WTF, Wes, two years is fine and all but it’s not even a real milestone. Not like five or ten years or making the New York Times list or something really significant like signing your first boob. (Paula, I have not signed a boob yet. I swear. Well, except for Sam Sykes’s but that doesn’t count. BTW, you can pick up Sam’s cool books here.) The reason why two years is a major milestone for me is because that’s the eligibility range for the John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer. Arbitrary numbers are arbitrary but that means I’m now officially no longer a new writer. I’m post pubescent, an adult writer, a middle-aged one even.
Holla.
Since my debut, I’ve written five novels and have released three, with Time Salvager set to drop July 7th, and two more coming in 2016. Seriously, can you believe it’s only been two years? I feel like I’ve been doing this forever! Not gonna lie, the writing business is tough.
For example, this is what I looked like before I got into writing.
This is what I look like now.
This picture below is probably what I’ll look like in a few years.
To be honest, I’m not exactly opposed to that look but I will probably need to clip those finger nails . Could interfere with the wordsmithing magic making.
At the end of the day, I’m happy to tears that I’m a full time writer. How many folks can say their dream came true? I’d like to thank everyone who has made this career possible. From my wife Paula to Eva to my parents to my agent to my publishers and most of all to all you readers. THANK YOU! You all rock!
Ok, enough patting myself on the back. I leave you with this:
